Ice Skating Classes
If you're a new skater, or one who wants to sharpen their skills, continue learning through the learn-to-skate levels, or want to learn as a family: we have the class for you!
Day and Time : Saturdays 11:00am - 12:00pm
Dates: 10/3/26 through 12/5/26 (No classes held 10/10 or 11/28)
Location: Jackson Ice Rink - Westminster School
995 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury
Cost: $280 per session
Refund Policy for Ice Skating: There are NO refunds given for this class once registered, unless an injury occurred and doctors note is sent.
Class Options:
Tot Class ( Ages 2-3 ):
- In Tot Class, skaters aged 2 and 3 will learn how to adjust to the ice, skate on their own, and practice basic skating skills through a warm and supportive environment. Parents are welcome to get on the ice with their tot, but it is not a requirement.
Learn to Skate 1 (Ages 4+):
- Learn to Skate 1 is for children who are new skaters that haven’t stepped on the ice before and/or for children that have had no formal ice skating coaching.
Learn to Skate 2 (Ages 4+):
- Learn to Skate 2 is for children who have participated in Learn to Skate prior or are currently in skating lessons. Children will be grouped by Learn to Skate levels based on the level information you will fill out on your waiver one week before the start of class. This waiver is not a part of the sign-up information; the coaches will email that to you the week before the start of class.
Figure Skating (Ages 4+):
- Figure Skating class is for skaters currently taking skating lessons or for skaters who have passed Learn to Skate levels 1-6. In this class, skaters will focus on stroking, beginner jumps, spins, and basic figure skating elements.
Hockey Power Skating (Ages 4+):
- Hockey Power Skating class is for players who have passed or completed all Learn to Skate / Learn to Play levels. In class, we will focus on the basics of skating skills, transitions, where power comes from in skating and how to improve it, body positions and placement, along with how to transition skating skills into an actual game environment.
Q&A:
What class should I put my child in if I don’t know?
- Put them in the class you think works best, and we can switch them on day 1 if needed before we get on the ice; groups are not definitive. We do what’s best for the kids and will move them accordingly as they improve. No worries!
Can I sign up and learn with my kids?
- Yes, you're more than welcome to sign up and learn as a family.
Required equipment:
- Jackson figure skates or Bauer hockey skates
- Helmet that covers the full head (bike helmet without slits in it, ski, equestrian, hockey, or learn-to-skate helmet are all fine to use)
- Students come in all black
